The
NSC Waste Compacting Unit has the following characteristics:
Small Footprint
Heavy Duty Construction
Fully Pneumatic Operation and Control
High Operational Safety
Press Button Controls
Minimum Installation Time
No Rotating Parts – No Electrical Parts – No Hydraulics
Minimum Maintenance Downtime
Garbage packed into Disposable Hygienic Heavy Duty Sealable Bags
Powered by a Standard Air Supply of 100psi
The NSC Waste Compactor is of an upright design to minimise the deck space requirement (1690mm x 1690mm x 2875mm high).
The load is compacted under an air-filled bellows that exerts a force of 12700kgs (approx. 13 tons) at maximum but requires only 15 cubic feet of air at 100psi per cycle. The pneumatic control system is contained in a well-laid out, weatherproof control box adjacent to the operator’s position.
To overcome logistic problems the compactor was developed around the use of seal-able, disposable, polypropylene bags to contain the garbage and eliminate the need for storage and transportation of skips offshore. The waste compactor remains on site at all times and only the full bags are shipped ashore.
The NSC Waste Compactor is constructed and marked in accordance with the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
These units have proven that they are of efficient design with the experience of several million trouble free operating hours in the hostile North Sea zones.
The large NSC rental fleet in the North Sea serves most of the major oil platforms, flotels, drill rigs and large auxiliary vessels.
